So...I've been trying to find a good volunteer program for this summer...and a lot of them have caught my attention, but why do they have to cost so much!?

For instance, Bike and Build. Like, I really would love to bike across America and stop along the way to help build houses, but I really don't think I can afford the plane tickets and the biking gear (and the bike?)! And I would really really really love to teach English abroad, but those cost money too! And the programs that are relatively cheap seem a bit shady.

Anyone know any good volunteer programs? I really want to go to Thailand to teach...
